Bangladesh – Medical

0.0% of $25,000 funded

One of our partner organisations in Bangladesh has had a vision for many years to operate a small hospital in rural Bangladesh to provide more cost-effective services to their local community. A previous building was destroyed by earthquake, but a new hospital has been built with more services and potential than the previous operation. The hospital is available to all locals equally, but driven by the need to provide services especially to marginalised communities.

WDRF provided funds for an X-ray machine 2019, which is currently in use. We recently visited the new hospital for the first time and were impressed with their vision and planning.

The hospital covers its basic operating costs from modest patient service fees, but needs help to improve services. Our partner shared three needs with us. Firstly, they need to computerise their patient records to improve their efficiency. Secondly, they need to buy basic operating equipment so they can perform a bigger range of simple surgery. Thirdly, they desperately need an ambulance for patient transport. Our aim is to provide the funds for the first two items and co-fund the ambulance with other funders.

This project has ended. Thank you for your support!
